About the Mărțișor tradition
Mărțișor is a tradition celebrated at the beginning of spring, on March 1st, in Romania and Moldova. It consists of an object made of two intertwined strings — one red and one white — with a small decorative pendant attached.
It is given to loved ones as a symbol of spring, good luck, and well wishes. The tradition is inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
